If I Can, You Can: A Woman’s Voice in a World of Code

If I Can, You Can: A Woman’s Voice in a World of Code

Let me tell you something, I never considered myself “tech-savvy.” The idea of building a website? It felt like stepping into a foreign country without a map. HTML? CSS? Domains? Hosting? Those weren’t just unfamiliar words, they were intimidating.

But here I am. Writing this blog. On a website I built. By myself.

It wasn’t seamless. It wasn’t pretty. There were moments I sat in front of my laptop, completely frozen, unsure where to click, unsure what I’d break. There were evenings I almost gave up and whispered to myself, “Maybe this isn’t for me”.

But it ‘is’ for me. And it’s for you too.

Learning IT – The Hard, Honest Way

I started with low digital skills. I knew how to type, sure, and I could Google my way through basic tasks. But the deeper I went, the more exposed I felt. Every new tool felt like a test I hadn’t studied for.

Enter: WordPress. Not just a platform, but a lifeline. I used their support chat like a digital therapist, showing up with broken widgets, confused layouts, and half-baked pages, hoping for clarity. And every time, someone helped me take one more step forward.

Still, it wasn’t the tutorials that taught me the most.

It was the ‘patience’ I had to learn.

It was the ‘frustration’ I had to feel and work through.

It was the ‘voice inside me’ that said: “Try again. You’re closer than you think”.

The Skills I Didn’t Expect to Gain

No one tells you that learning tech especially when you’ve never been “the tech one” builds more than digital skills. It builds grit.

    I learned:

    • How to ask better questions.
    • How to sit with the discomfort of not knowing.
    • How to celebrate the tiniest wins (like finally centering a header!).

These aren’t ‘soft skills’. They are ‘core strengths’.

And while I didn’t master everything overnight – I now know that I can learn anything I decide to. It might take me longer. It might look different from someone with a coding degree. But it will happen, by me, and for me.

Now, I Want to Hear ‘Your’ Voice

If you’re a woman staring at a screen right now, wondering if you’re “good enough” or “smart enough” to build your online presence, I want you to know: you are.

You don’t have to know it all. You just have to begin.

Let your voice be heard. Even if it shakes. Even if your first site is messy. Even if it takes time.

Because if I can do it, with zero IT background, countless moments of doubt, and a Wi-Fi connection that loves to cut out, then ‘you’ can too.

    Let me hear your voice.
